Jim has been Square Dancing since 1987 and Round Dancing since 1993 while Georgianne
started Square Dancing in 1992 and Round Dancing in 1994. They met during the Singles Dance-A-Rama in Oklahoma City in the year 1994. It was love at first sight with them getting married August 11, 1995. Licensed through Round-A-Lab with BMI and ASCAP Jim and Georgianne (George) started cueing and teaching in 1995.
In addition to this affiliation, they are members of and the current President of The
Central District Callers and Cuers Association CDCCA located in Oklahoma City,OK
and members in good standing with Oklahoma State Callers & Teachers Association OSCTA
Jim and George are the incoming President for the Oklahoma Round Dance Association
ORDA as well as round
dance coordinators for the Oklahoma Square Dance Federation OSDF several times.
They are also members of Universal Round dance Council URDC aka International Choreographed
Ballroom Dance Association ICBDA; Dixie Round Dance Council DRDC and Round-A-Lab
Jim and George have attended 12 National Conventions and were the Vice Chairman of Rounds in 2003. The Couey's have cued at the last 5 and showcased in the last 2. In 2005, they choreographed, showcased, and taught "Please Remember Me", a phase III+2 Bolero and at the 55th NSDC (2006) in San Antonio, TX "All To Myself 4", a phase IV Foxtrot.
Since 2006, June of each year the Couey’s are the staff Cuers for a week at Fun Valley, CO. For a fun filled week of good Square Dancing to Jeff Holley and Lem Gravelle, staff Callers along with workshops and rounds with the Couey’s be sure to contact them for additional information.
Jim and George teach through Phase IV and dance thru Phase VI. They love people and are available for bookings at your Club, Festival, or Clinics.
PERSONAL
BACKGROUND:
Jim is retired from the US Postal Service after 30 years and from the US Army
Reserves. Georgianne (George) is a retired Administrative Assistant / Office Manager. Together they have (4) Grown Children and (13) Grandchildren.
